  5. I feel like this genre of writing is something that is often overlooked, at least amongst children our age. However it needs not to be because a lot of GREAT authors and stories have came from Gothic literature. I'm glad we're learning about this because I didn't even know the classic tales such as The Scarlet Letter and Dracula are both forms of Gothic literature, which might I add are both phenomenal pieces that have paved the way for writing today.

  13. The Gothic period was a time during the late 18th and early 19th centuries when Europeans and Americans began to write about the sorrows of life which became a new literary movement. Edgar Allen Poe is a very well-known pioneer of this movement. One piece of literature I have read from him is "The Raven" which is a very symbolic poem with a strong theme.

Poe was a very creative writer who was very intriguing and catching during his stories. Before reading this post I did not know that Poe was a Gothic writer the way his stories are so interesting and entertaining. The Gothic Period was a time of Belief and experience for people. People believed that they could accomplish anything and experience Greatness. Poe writes many of his stories through his life experiences which helps us understand these stories better. In my opinion Poe and the Gothic Period was a Great experience.

  17. I always thought that that Gothic literature was purposely made evil because that was the personality of the individual. Now, I finally understand that Gothic literature is greatly influenced by the harsh or devastating memories of an individual's past or even their present situation.

  24. Gothic form of writing is great since it doesn't try to sugar coat the realities of life. It comes to show us that true nature of human beings and of a darkness that we each will come to know and experience. It has become quite popular in its way to make a spooky tale but we have to know that somethings written can happen to us and the world is never truly safe as we once thought it was.

  26. Gothic literature talked about the other side of life. Literature was often used as a way to escape and be positive. But gothic writers used it as a way to tell of life's tragedies. Even though many of these works contain monsters, their concept is painful and realistic.
